Gandhi made the announcement at an event in New Delhi to release a report on the state of the girl child titled 'Pathways To Power' by Plan India, a non-government organization that aims to put children at the centre of development, on the occasion of the International Day of Girls.
At the event, Gandhi, while praising the NGO for training 'Anganwadi' workers, also announced children-centric initiatives that her ministry is planning to undertake in the health and nutrition sector.
The NGO's study, undertaken in Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar, revealed that access to quality education and technical skills training are the most important instruments of empowerment.
