RTO work in Mumbai too will be hit due to election duty

MUMBAI: Work at the city's three RTOs will be majorly hit for one week due to the elections. As RTO offices will remain closed on October 14 and 15, there will be a huge backlog of car registrations, new driving licences and around 3,500 licence renewals, said sources.

"We will keep the Andheri RTO open on Monday primarily for learner licence tests. All other work will be hit," said regional transport officer P G Bhalerao. Almost every RTO official and clerical staff has been posted on poll duty. The RTO will also arrange for 6,000 vehicles, including taxis, buses, trucks and tempos, for election duty.
