The attack occurred on Friday near a market in Pishan county of Hotan prefecture. The news surfaced on a day when a court in Xinjiang's Kashgar sentenced 12 people to death for organizing terrorist attacks that killed 37 civilians in Shache County on July 28.
The court also awarded death with a two-year reprieve to 15 other suspects. Their cases will be reviewed after two years and the review court will then decide if they deserve death penalty or a life imprisonment. A court in Kashgar Prefecture sent nine people to jail for life, according to http://www.ts.cn/, the official news portal of the Xinjiang provincial government. Another 20 defendants got four to 20 years in jail.
